Intermarché transforms its snacking offering with QualityFry

More variety, installation without construction work and an approximate 15% increase in revenue from its “À table!” area. The Intermarché on rue Lecourbe in Paris found in QualityFry a simple way to take its prepared food offering one step further.

The evolution of retail is turning supermarkets into much more than places to shop. Prepared food and Ready-to-Eat areas are gaining prominence, offering stores a new opportunity to attract customers, differentiate themselves and create new consumption occasions.

The challenge: going beyond the supermarket’s traditional offering

“À table!” already offered a wide selection of products mainly supplied by Intermarché’s central purchasing department: croque-monsieur, pizzas, chicken, chicken thighs, vegetables, fries and other fast-food options.

However, the team wanted to continue developing the concept and, above all, offer customers something different.

“We needed to take our snacking offering further and differentiate ourselves for our customers.”

This is how Rémi Chardour, Deputy Manager of the Intermarché on rue Lecourbe, explains it. After exploring different alternatives, the store discovered QualityFry and saw an opportunity to introduce new dishes without changing its existing infrastructure.

A new offering: fries, nuggets, tenders and meal deals

With the addition of QualityFry, “À table!” was able to expand its range with fries, nuggets, tenders and

different meal deal combinations.

It was not simply about adding products, but about complementing the existing offering and creating new options for customers.

“Our goal was to offer customers more variety and add something new to our range.”

This diversification has enabled the supermarket to differentiate its proposition from the standard offering and turn its prepared food area into a more complete foodservice destination.

No construction work and ready to start operating

One of the key factors for Intermarché was how easily the equipment could be integrated into a store that was already fully operational.

QualityFry’s integrated extraction system made it possible to install the equipment without any construction work to add a smoke extraction system, considerably simplifying the project.

“The advantage of this machine is that it already has an integrated extraction system, so we didn’t need to carry out any construction work.”

Its simple operation also enabled staff to start using the equipment quickly.

“It’s very easy to use and practically ready to go from the moment you order it: we were able to start using it straight away.”

Para Rémi, esta facilidad se traduce en tres ventajas muy concretas para el establecimiento: ahorro de tiempo, ahorro de costes y practicidad para los equipos que trabajan diariamente en el puesto.

15 % more revenue for “À table!”

The impact of the new offering is also reflected in the business results.

According to Rémi, since QualityFry was installed, revenue from the “À table!” counter has increased by approximately 15%.

“Since we installed the fryer, we’ve increased revenue from the ‘À table!’ counter by approximately 15%.”

QualityFry also plays a significant role in daily production. Although approximately 80% of the food prepared still comes from the store’s core offering, around 20% of lunchtime production is now prepared using the QualityFry equipment.

This demonstrates how a new solution can complement an already established operation without needing to replace it.

New meal deals to drive more traffic

The addition of the equipment has also opened the door to new commercial opportunities.

The store has created meal deals combining, for example, a portion of fries, tenders and a drink, an offering that, according to Intermarché, is directly contributing to increased store traffic.

“Customers are very happy and they love the offering.”

In this way, prepared food is no longer simply an additional service, but also a tool to attract customers and create new sales opportunities within the supermarket.

A solution to transform snacking in retail

The “À table!” case demonstrates how supermarkets can expand their food offering by making use of their existing space and infrastructure.

Simple installation, easy operation for staff and the ability to introduce a varied offering have enabled Intermarché to develop its snacking concept and achieve measurable results.

And Rémi is clear in his recommendation:

“I would recommend the QualityFry fryer to anyone looking to develop the snacking offering in their store.”
